ENJYU JAPAN is a travel company based in Tokyo, Japan. We build trips around what you actually want to do here. Some start from a blank page. Others start from a fixed date, a July festival or a September tournament, and work outward from there.

What ENJYU JAPAN is
We are a travel company based in Tokyo, and we have been arranging travel since 2024. Most of what we do is private: one party, one itinerary, built from the ground up. We also run group departures, which are the same planning applied to a fixed route and a set date. We are registered as Tokyo Governor Registered Travel Agency No. 2-8734 and belong to the All Nippon Travel Agents Association.
What we design for is the part of a trip that sits between the sights. An itinerary assembled from a list of famous places delivers the places and not much else, and the things that stay with people afterwards usually have to be budgeted for: a landscape you walk through instead of past, a craft explained by someone who practises it, the reason a festival falls in the week it does. Access to that is not luck. It comes from knowing which town, which month, and who to ask, and from a regional network of guides we work with directly.
So our itineraries tend to carry fewer stops than you might expect and more unallocated hours, and they usually include somewhere you had not thought to ask for. The aim is that you come home able to explain something about Japan, not only to list where you went.

Three formats, and the difference between them is mostly a question of how much you want decided before you arrive.

The Tailor-Made Tour
The Tailor-Made Tour is the core of what we do. You tell us the interests, the pace, the number of nights, and whatever you are uneasy about. We come back with a route, accommodation, internal transport, guides and activities, then revise until it fits. Most of the work is in the revising.
It suits second and third visits most of all. If you have already done the Tokyo–Hakone–Kyoto–Nara run that almost every first trip follows, and came home wanting the version of the country that sits underneath it, this is the format that gets you there.
Recent commissions show the range better than a description would: a ski week in Hakuba, Nagano; the classic Golden Route; Hokkaido away from the stops most itineraries use; a solo trip; a fortnight built around a sumo tournament. There is no one type of traveller in that list.
The Package Tour
A Package Tour is an itinerary we have already built. Route, pacing and accommodation are settled; you choose the dates. These still run privately, so it is your party on the trip and no one joins you.
Three situations make a Package Tour the better choice. It is your first time in Japan and you want the things everyone comes to see done properly rather than skipped on principle. Or you know you want to go but have not worked out what you want to do, and looking at a finished route is easier than starting from a map. Or the trip is close and you would rather have it settled this month.

The Group Tour
Group Tours are the few departures we run each year where you travel alongside other people, not only your own party. Ten to twenty travellers, a fixed route, a fixed date, and a lower cost per person than the same trip arranged privately. They suit solo travellers particularly, and anyone who would like to spend part of their two-week trip in the company of other travellers.

Who We Work With
Any trip to Japan, whatever the length and whoever is going. Where we are most useful is the point at which planning it yourself stops being enjoyable and starts being work, and that point tends to arrive in the same few places.
- You are leaving the big cities. English signage thins out once you are off the main lines, and the route between two points on a map stops being obvious.
- You want someone to ask, not just something to look at. A guide who can answer the question you actually have, while you are standing in front of the thing, makes a different trip from one who recites.
- You are travelling as a group that wants different things. Three generations, where the day that suits a nine-year-old and the day that suits a seventy-year-old are not the same day.
- The trip is built around a date. A tournament, a festival, a season you have waited years for. Everything else has to fit around a fixed point, which is a harder problem than an open calendar.
If choosing the hotels and working out the train connections is the part you enjoy, you do not need us. Some people plan a trip for a year and like every stage of it.
From First Message to Departure
The stages below are how it usually runs, from a first message to the day you land.

Stage three is a route and a price, not a minute-by-minute schedule. It is meant to be enough to decide on and still loose enough to argue with, which is why the revising in stage two and three is where the time goes. Allow a week to two weeks from your first message to a booking, depending on which format you are in. That can be compressed if your dates are close, so say so in the first message.

Start With a Message
A first message is a question, not a commitment. Some conversations end without a booking, which is a normal outcome.
You do not need a finished list of places either. Plenty of trips have started from a hesitation: a worry about travelling with an elderly parent, a festival date nothing else seemed to fit around, a week in the middle nobody could decide what to do with. That is enough to work with.
Send the form on the Inquiry page and one of us replies by email or WhatsApp, usually with questions before answers. If your dates are close, say so in the first line.
Common Questions
Where should a first trip to Japan go?
Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. They connect easily by rail and cover most of what a first visit wants.
Then add one region that is not on that list. It changes the trip more than a fourth famous city does, and it is where the crowds thin out. Which region depends on the month and on what interests you.
Do I need a guide?
We recommend one. Travelling with a guide is the difference between seeing a place and understanding it. They will also tell you where to eat and what to do with an evening, which is often the part people remember. And you have someone with you throughout, which counts when a train is cancelled or the weather rewrites the day.
How do I pay?
Bank transfer or credit card.
I am travelling alone. Can I join a group tour?
Yes. Say so when you get in touch and we will come to you first when a departure is being put together. They run only a few times a year.
Can you quote me if I have not fixed my dates?
Yes, but the number will be higher. Without dates we have to price the expensive version of every week. A quote built on fixed dates is almost always cheaper, so if the dates are the thing you cannot decide, tell us the month and we will suggest the weeks that work.
